KAI Daop 3 Cirebon Closes Another Illegal Railway Crossing

PT KAI Daop 3 Cirebon has again closed an illegal railway crossing in Cirebon Regency, reinforcing its commitment to passenger safety and accident prevention. The specific crossing shut down was located at KM 247+3-4 between Sindanglaut and Ciledug stations in Jatirenggang Village, Pabuaran District.

According to Muhibbuddin, Public Relations Manager for Daop 3 Cirebon, the now-closed crossing was less than two meters wide and lacked essential safety features such as guards, traffic signs, or any other safety facilities. "The existence of unregistered or illegal crossings can be dangerous, both for train operations and for road users who pass through, becoming a risk factor for accidents on the railway line," Muhibbuddin stated.

Muhibbuddin emphasized that closing this crossing is part of KAI's broader effort to regulate railway crossings that do not meet safety standards. He stressed that all level crossings must comply with technical and administrative requirements stipulated by law to ensure the safety of train journeys and protect road users. KAI is actively coordinating with local governments, regional authorities, and other stakeholders to tackle the issue of illegal crossings, prioritizing safety above all else.

KAI also issued a public appeal, urging residents to utilize only official, properly equipped railway crossings. The company requested the public refrain from creating or using new, unauthorized crossing points along the railway lines. "We invite all members of the public to work together to ensure safety around the railway lines. Do not create or use illegal crossings because the risks are very high and can endanger many parties," Muhibbuddin concluded. He expressed hope that these efforts will reduce potential accidents at level crossings and improve the safety of train travel, contributing to secure, orderly, and reliable public transportation.
