Kakao Pay links existing check cards to Kakao Pay Money

Kakao Pay has introduced an innovative service that allows users to connect their current check cards with Kakao Pay Money, offering a new layer of convenience for digital payments. This feature, dubbed 'My Card Money Connection,' eliminates the need for users to obtain new cards. Instead, they can link their existing check cards to their Kakao Pay Money balance, enabling seamless transactions.

The service is initially rolling out to users of Hana Card check cards, with plans to gradually expand to other affiliated card companies. Kakao Pay highlighted that this is the first time in South Korea that a service allows users to link prepaid balances to already issued check cards.

"'My Card Money Connection' combines the convenience of Kakao Pay Money with the familiarity of a physical check card that users are accustomed to," a Kakao Pay representative explained. "The strength of this service lies in allowing users to enjoy the convenience of Kakao Pay Money with their existing check cards without needing to reapply for a new one."

To celebrate the launch, Kakao Pay is running a promotion until the end of the year, offering an additional 1% reward on payment amounts for users who sign up for the service and participate in the event.
