Kalashnikov delivers batch of grenade launchers to Russian army for Ukraine conflict

The Russian defense conglomerate Kalashnikov announced it has successfully delivered a substantial quantity of GP-34 under-barrel grenade launchers to the Russian military. These weapons are designated for use in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

The GP-34 is a 40mm grenade launcher that attaches beneath the barrel of assault rifles. Originating from designs used in the 1960s, these launchers are capable of engaging live targets and lightly armored vehicles up to 400 meters away with fragmentation and thermobaric grenades. They can also be employed for police missions using non-lethal stun grenades.

Kalashnikov successfully delivered a large batch of 40-millimeter GP-34 under-barrel grenade launchers to a state customer within the established timeframe.

Kalashnikov emphasized that the production of such military accessories is maintained at a high level. The company confirmed that the GP-34 is actively deployed in the "zone of the special military operation." The design features a muzzle-loading mechanism, a classic characteristic of Russian weapon systems, which facilitates rapid reloading.

These grenade launchers are compatible with various Russian firearms, including Kalashnikov automatic rifles with 415mm barrels and the AN-94 assault rifle. They have been in service with the Russian army and internal forces for over two decades. Kalashnikov, a major global producer of light firearms, is currently under sanctions from the European Union, the United States, the United Kingdom, and other countries due to its involvement in the Ukraine conflict.

The GP-35 is used to destroy live forces and unarmored vehicles with fragmentation and thermobaric grenades at distances of up to 400 meters, as well as to carry out police missions with non-lethal stun grenades of the VOG-25 type.
