Kang Ka-eun reveals ex-husband's actions: 'He asked to borrow money instead of child support'

Actress Kang Ka-eun has shared her struggles with not receiving child support from her ex-husband, detailing the emotional toll it has taken. In a recent YouTube video, Kang stated, "I broke up with him because we weren't compatible, but I couldn't erase the presence of a father for my child." She explained her efforts to facilitate meetings between her daughter and her father, which ultimately proved difficult. Kang discovered the extent of financial issues approximately two and a half years after their divorce, finding her ex-husband's bank account at zero on the day she checked. His last known activity was an overseas departure, after which he became unreachable. "What child support? He even asked to borrow money after the divorce," she lamented, evoking sympathy. Kang described enduring immense hardship, confessing, "I've been through everything imaginable." She admitted to experiencing sudden anger and sadness, feeling sorry for her daughter and her own parents. The moments she had to explain her ex-husband's absence to their daughter were particularly painful. "I feel sorry that she couldn't experience having a father, whether he was good or bad," Kang said. She recalled the difficulty around age seven when her daughter asked, "Why don't I live with Dad? Can you call him?" Kang explained that she calmly told her daughter, "Mom and Dad don't know each other's numbers. We can't contact them." Later, she explained their separation and lack of contact were due to the nature of their relationship. The pain was amplified during a parent's day event at her daughter's taekwondo class when the instructor called for "Dads, please come forward." Kang felt immense guilt that her daughter had never lived with a father. Reflecting on her marriage, Kang admitted, "I desperately wanted to get married back then and felt very lonely. I tend to fall in love quickly. When I had my daughter, I thought, 'This must be fate telling me to get married.'" She realized that dating alone doesn't reveal a partner's lifestyle or habits, and discovered her ex-husband's other issues only after the divorce, though these were not the direct cause. Kang married a businessman of the same age in 2016 and divorced two years later. Her ex-husband was reportedly involved in a fraud scheme using her name, defrauding 13.2 billion won, leading Kang to file a lawsuit against him for fraud. She has since been active in broadcasting and on YouTube, recently joining the KBS 2TV show 'Park Won-sook's Where We Live'.
