Kano gov hails FG’s suspension of NECO fee hike

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has lauded the Federal Government's move to suspend the planned increase in National Examinations Council (NECO) examination fees. The governor described the decision as a "thoughtful intervention" that will significantly ease the financial burden on countless Nigerian families, thereby promoting greater access to quality education.

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, Governor Yusuf also took the opportunity to commend President Bola Tinubu's administration. He highlighted the ongoing reforms implemented under the "Renewed Hope Agenda" that are specifically designed to enhance access to quality education nationwide.

Governor Yusuf further extended his appreciation to the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC). He recognized their dedication to fostering inclusive and affordable education across the country. The governor also noted the importance of the timely release of UBEC counterpart funds, which have been instrumental in facilitating school construction, rehabilitation, and other crucial basic education projects within Kano State.

Reiterating his administration's commitment, Yusuf affirmed Kano State's dedication to strengthening collaborations with the Ministry of Education, UBEC, NECO, and other relevant agencies. This collaborative approach aims to drive investments in education and ultimately improve learning outcomes for students in the state.
