Kano governor advises 1,500 prospective mass wedding couples on patience, faith

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has called on 1,500 couples preparing for the state's mass wedding program to anchor their unions on trust, patience, mutual respect, and adherence to religious principles.

Speaking at an orientation organized by the Kano State Hisbah Board, Governor Yusuf, represented by Commander-General Aminu Daurawa, stressed that marriage is a sacred institution demanding commitment and understanding. He advised the prospective spouses to remain faithful, practice tolerance during difficulties, and resolve disagreements through dialogue.

"Every successful marriage is built on the fulfilment of rights and responsibilities by both spouses, because family stability remains a critical pillar for the development of any community," Yusuf stated. He highlighted that strong families foster peaceful communities and encouraged the couples to adopt values that promote harmony.

The orientation program featured lectures from Islamic scholars and professionals covering marital responsibilities, conflict resolution, and religious aspects of marriage. Speakers addressed topics such as "The Wisdom of Marriage in Islam" and "The Rights and Responsibilities of Spouses in Islam."

To support the newlyweds, the government will provide each groom with shadda fabric, a cap, rice, and cooking oil. Each bride will receive ₦200,000 for dowry and business support, along with essential household items. The mass wedding ceremonies are scheduled to take place on Friday at the Central Jumu’ah Mosque and across local government headquarters, concluding Sunday with the distribution of furniture.
