Kano Governor Inaugurates Task Force on Drug Abuse, Signs Order Against Thuggery

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has launched a Multi-Agency Task Force on Drug Abuse and signed an Executive Order aimed at curbing thuggery and other criminal activities within the state. The initiatives signal a strong commitment from the governor to address pressing social issues.

The newly formed Task Force is designed to coordinate the state's response through intelligence gathering, enforcement, public awareness campaigns, rehabilitation efforts, and collaboration with security agencies and stakeholders.

The administration pledged to provide the Task Force with adequate funding, operational support, and logistical assistance, while ensuring its operational independence. Governor Yusuf also reiterated the commitment to expanding rehabilitation facilities for drug abuse victims, noting the establishment of separate centers for male and female patients.

The Chairman of the Task Force, Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, thanked the governor for the confidence placed in the committee and assured that the Task Force would execute its duties with integrity and professionalism.
