Kano governor reshuffles cabinet, appoints new advisers

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle, reassigning several Special Advisers and appointing new aides to strengthen governance and improve service delivery. The move also involves scrapping the offices of Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs and Special Adviser on Liaison Offices (Abuja), with the affected officials redeployed to new positions.

Notable changes include Habiba Barwa, formerly Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs, Government House, now serving as Special Adviser on Special Duties (Women). Umar Akawu, the ex-Special Adviser on Liaison Offices (Abuja), has been redeployed as Special Adviser, Cabinet Office (Political). Other affected officials include Akibu Isa Murtala, moved from Special Adviser (Administration) to Special Adviser on Human Resource; Ibrahim Adam, reassigned from Special Adviser on Information to Special Adviser on Social Media; and Nasiru Isa Dikko, who moved from Special Adviser on Non-Governmental Organizations to Special Adviser on Empowerment.

This restructuring is aimed at strengthening governance, enhancing service delivery and ensuring that government institutions are better positioned to meet the aspirations of the people of Kano State.

New appointments include Bello Nuhu Bello as Special Adviser (Administration), Governor’s Office, and Hon. Ahmed Muhammad Aruwa, former Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress in Kano State, as Special Adviser on Publicity. Hon. Buhari Sule Kura and Hon. Yahuza Ado Yankaba were also appointed as Special Advisers on Non-Governmental Organizations and Motor Parks, respectively. Governor Yusuf stated the restructuring aims to enhance administrative efficiency and align government institutions with his administration's priorities, urging the appointees to dedicate themselves to public service.
