Kano Police Intercept Illegal Arms, Arrest Suspected Robbers and Thieves

The Kano State Police Command announced substantial achievements in its campaign against crime, detailing breakthroughs made over the last two days. These successes include the interception of illegal firearms and ammunition, the apprehension of five individuals suspected of armed robbery, and the recovery of stolen livestock.

The Kano State Police Command has recorded significant breakthroughs in the fight against crime across the state in the last two days.

In one operation on August 13, police recovered a Tokarev pistol with 48 rounds of ammunition from a parcel of luggage, acting on information from a concerned citizen. The suspect confessed to purchasing the firearm in another state and intended to deliver it elsewhere. Investigations are ongoing to identify further accomplices in the arms supply chain.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to having bought the firearm and ammunition from another state, and was forwarding the same to someone in another state.

Also on August 13, operatives arrested five suspected armed robbers in Rogo Local Government Area. Preliminary investigations indicate the suspects were involved in multiple cases of criminal trespass, conspiracy, and armed robbery, which resulted in severe injuries to victims. They also confessed to stealing approximately five motorcycles and other valuables. The police stated that investigations are continuing, and the suspects will face charges upon completion.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects have been involved in four different cases of criminal trespass, criminal conspiracy and armed robbery within Jajaye Village and environs, which resulted in various degrees of grievous injuries to victims.

In separate incidents, the Gaya Division recovered a stolen cow and ram, leading to the arrest of two additional suspects linked to the theft syndicate. The Commissioner of Police commended the public for their vigilance and the officers for their dedication. These actions align with the Inspector-General of Police's directives on community policing and proactive crime prevention.
