Kaohsiung Aquas Sign Italian National Grant Basile to Bolster Frontcourt

The Kaohsiung Aquas have bolstered their frontcourt by signing Grant Basile, an American-Italian player with a versatile skill set. The 206cm player, who primarily plays the power forward and center positions, joins the team after stints in Italy and Puerto Rico. Basile also has experience with the Italian national team, adding international pedigree to the Aquas.

Basile is noted for his ability to shoot from beyond the arc, a valuable asset for a big man. He also possesses strong defensive awareness, which the Aquas believe will create a solid defensive foundation in the paint. His background includes playing for Virginia Tech, where he earned All-ACC honorable mention honors.

His professional career began in 2023, quickly reaching Italy's top league. In the 2024-25 season, he led Cantù to the Serie A2 championship, earning Finals MVP and Best Forward awards. Most recently, he played for the Piratas de Quebradillas in Puerto Rico, averaging 17.8 points and 7.6 rebounds with an impressive 44.8% three-point shooting.
