Kaohsiung's Pier-2 Art Center Celebrates 5th Anniversary with Free Takao Rock Festival

Kaohsiung's vibrant Pier-2 Art Center is set to mark its fifth anniversary with an expanded "2026 Takao Rock" music festival. The "Hi-ing 5" segment of the festival, scheduled for October 10-11, will feature a diverse lineup of 20 artists, promising a lively celebration during Taiwan's National Day holiday.

The announcement of free admission has already generated considerable buzz online, with nearly a million views. This year's festival boasts a mix of established and emerging talents. Notably, Bulareyaung Dance Company, Golden Melody Award winner Soft Lipa, and Tizzy Bac will make their debut at Takao Rock. They are joined by artists like ABAO, who returns with a collaborative set featuring the Na-Wai Girls, R.fu, Arase, and Argentine pianist Martin Musa Musaubach.

Bulareyaung Dance Company plans to deliver a high-energy, hour-long performance of non-stop music and dance, urging attendees to experience it live. Tizzy Bac and Soft Lipa are preparing special medleys of their classic hits for the高雄 (Kaohsiung) audience. Tizzy Bac also noted that 2026 marks the 20th anniversary of their second album, expressing excitement to share familiar songs with fans.

In a move to foster local talent, Pier-2 is collaborating with the Taipei Pop Music Center to facilitate cross-city performance opportunities. This initiative connects emerging artists like "BRBP," winners of the third High-Flow Music Festival band competition, and "Jue Ming Zi," who recently won at Taipei's "Music Non-Stop." The festival also includes a ticketed evening show, "Noise Zone" by Paixiao Shonen, on October 10th at the Music Center.
