Karakol special equipment purchase under criminal investigation

A criminal case has been initiated in Karakol following revelations of irregularities in the purchase of specialized municipal equipment. The prosecutor's office uncovered violations during an audit of budget expenditures, specifically concerning the acquisition of 31 units of special machinery for the city's mayor's office, totaling approximately 330 million Kyrgyz soms.

An inspection revealed that a portion of the delivered equipment, including garbage trucks, dump trucks, and road cleaning machines, failed to meet the established norms and technical specifications. This discrepancy has led to substantial financial damage to the state, prompting the opening of a criminal case under the article concerning abuse of official position.

The investigation is ongoing, with prosecutors closely monitoring its progress. The situation gained further attention when President Sadyr Жапаров visited Karakol and observed technical non-compliance in some of the newly delivered vehicles. The president has since ordered measures against suppliers and called for stricter quality control on future procurements, emphasizing the need for the replacement of substandard equipment.
