Karnataka SIR: Draft electoral roll publication deferred to August 24

The publication of Karnataka's draft electoral roll, part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, has been rescheduled to August 24. Consequently, the final electoral roll will now be released on October 27, according to an updated timeline issued by the Chief Electoral Officer's office.

This revision follows a letter from the Election Commission of India dated August 7. The qualifying date for inclusion in the electoral roll remains October 1, 2026. The SIR process, which commenced on June 30 with house-to-house visits by Booth Level Officers, is continuing and is scheduled to conclude on August 17. The rationalization and rearrangement of polling stations are also slated for completion on the same date.

Following the draft publication on August 24, citizens will have until September 23 to submit any claims or objections regarding the electoral roll. The subsequent notice phase and the disposal of these claims and objections will extend until October 22.

The final electoral roll's publication on October 27 marks the culmination of a process that began with extensive verification exercises. Karnataka's Chief Minister, D. K. Shivakumar, participated in the enumeration exercise on June 30, urging residents statewide to engage actively in the revision process.
