Kaunas observation wheel pricing approved, VIP gondola to include sparkling wine

Kaunas is preparing to launch a new observation wheel, with a committee approving its pricing structure, though the city council must give the final go-ahead. The proposed ticket prices aim to be competitive, costing less than those in the popular resort town of Palanga.

Before preparing the pricing, we analyzed observation wheels operating in other cities.

An adult ticket for the Kaunas observation wheel is expected to cost 12 euros, while children, students, seniors, and individuals with disabilities will pay 8 euros. Family tickets are also planned, with a package for two adults and two children priced at 35 euros, and a slightly larger family ticket for 39 euros. The wheel will feature 32 gondolas, including one VIP option.

The VIP gondola experience for two, complete with sparkling wine or another beverage, is set at 50 euros. Each additional person in the VIP gondola will incur a 25 euro charge. This pricing strategy, according to Tadas Stankevičius, director of VšĮ „Kaunas IN“, was developed after analyzing commercial offerings and purchasing power indices in similar attractions across the region. He stated that the VIP gondola will offer higher-class seating and an exclusive beverage service, aligning with practices in other cities.

We took good practices, evaluated purchasing power indices, and prepared the most suitable pricing for our city.

Comparisons with Palanga's observation wheel reveal significant differences. While Palanga charges 15 euros for an adult ticket and 10 euros for children, Kaunas proposes lower rates. A family ticket for four in Palanga costs 45 euros, compared to Kaunas's 35 euros. The VIP service also shows a stark contrast: Palanga's VIP gondola for four with wine is 100 euros, whereas Kaunas's 50 euro price for two, with additional charges, suggests a different market approach.
