Kauno "Žalgiris" players undergo pre-season medical checks

The basketball players of Kauno "Žalgiris" have completed their mandatory medical examinations at "Gijos Klinikose," marking a significant step in their preparation for the upcoming season. Notable figures including Jonas Valančiūnas, Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu, Sterling Brown, Dustinas Sleva, and Sabenas Lee were present, alongside Carsen Edwards, who arrived directly from the airport.

These comprehensive check-ups are crucial for assessing the players' physical condition. "Before every season, you have to do this – check what's missing and what's still needed. That's how you build your entire preparation for the season and your work during it," explained Jonas Valančiūnas. He also shared his positive impressions of the summer, having managed to both rest and engage in active pursuits.

Newcomers Sterling Brown and Sabenas Lee offered their initial thoughts on their first experiences in Kaunas. Brown shared his impressions of his first day in Lithuania, while Lee described his initial visit to the "Žalgiris" arena, expressing excitement about seeing it filled with fans. "I really liked everything in the arena and the training hall. I wanted to stretch a bit after the flight, warm up my wrist. The arena left a really good impression – I can't wait to see it full of fans," Lee added.

Team doctor Vytautas Kailius highlighted the medical team's focus during these examinations. "It's important to see if players are lacking minerals, how their general blood count looks, liver enzymes, and so on. These are specific things we monitor throughout the season to know what's changing, what might need to be given more or less," Kailius stated. The club has released a video on its "Žalgiris TV" YouTube channel, featuring player insights and behind-the-scenes footage from their first days in Kaunas.
