Kazakh Police Punish Hundreds of Parents in Night Raids

Kazakh police carried out targeted nighttime operations across Astana, Shymkent, and the Abai Region, resulting in over 480 parents being held accountable for failing to supervise their children's whereabouts after dark. The raids, conducted between August 7 and 8, focused on identifying minors found outside without adult supervision.

The primary objective of these checks was to proactively prevent offenses against children and ensure their safety. Police emphasized that identifying potential problems early allows for timely intervention, thereby protecting the well-being of minors. The operations also included checks on businesses to ensure compliance with the ban on selling alcohol and tobacco products to underage individuals.

In addition to the parental accountability measures, 28 business owners were cited for violations related to selling restricted products to minors. The Interior Ministry highlighted these actions as part of a broader strategy of early prevention efforts aimed at safeguarding children.

Police stated that these targeted operations will continue, alongside other initiatives designed to protect the rights of minors. The ministry also reiterated the importance of parental responsibility in monitoring their children's activities, including their nighttime whereabouts, companions, and use of free time.
