German Couple Dies in Kazakhstan Accident Near Astana

A tragic traffic accident near Astana, Kazakhstan, has claimed the lives of a husband and wife from Germany. The collision involved a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van and a GAZ-53 truck.

Two passengers in the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, identified as the German couple, died as a result of the crash. The man was in the front passenger seat, and rescuers had to extricate his body. His wife succumbed to multiple injuries later at a hospital.

Seven other passengers from the Sprinter and one from the GAZ-53 sustained various injuries and were transported to a medical facility for treatment. The couple's nine-year-old daughter survived the accident with injuries and is hospitalized.

A pre-trial investigation has been launched into the incident. The driver of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter has been detained and is being held in a temporary detention facility. A final decision will be made based on the investigation's findings.
