Kazakh President invites Thai Prime Minister for official visit

Kazakhstan views Thailand as a key partner in Southeast Asia, with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev extending an invitation to Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to visit the country. The leaders highlighted the strong prospects for economic collaboration between their nations.

Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Thailand saw a substantial increase of 76% in the first four months of 2026, surpassing $110 million. President Tokayev believes this figure can be further boosted, particularly through increased supplies of agricultural products. To foster favorable conditions for entrepreneurs, he proposed enhancing cooperation between the governments of both countries.

Tourism emerged as another promising area for collaboration. Thailand remains a popular destination for Kazakh citizens, with over 150,000 visiting in 2025 alone. Kazakhstan also aims to attract Thai residents by offering unique leisure opportunities, including winter tourism.

Prime Minister Charnvirakul affirmed Thailand's interest in broadening cooperation across various mutual interests. He indicated that Bangkok considers it important to invigorate collaboration in the economy, trade, digitalization, and tourism sectors. The meeting concluded with Tokayev's official visit invitation to Charnvirakul.
