Kazakhstan awards Cypriot president friendship order amid deepening ties

Kazakhstan and Cyprus are strengthening their diplomatic ties, marked by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev awarding Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides the prestigious Order of Dostyk (Friendship) of the first degree. The award ceremony took place during Christodoulides' first-ever visit to Kazakhstan, an event Tokayev described as a significant milestone in bilateral cooperation.

President Tokayev lauded President Christodoulides for his personal contribution to enhancing relations between the two nations. "In Kazakhstan, you are regarded as a kind friend and a distinguished statesman," Tokayev stated, emphasizing that Christodoulides' active involvement fosters mutual trust, political dialogue, and practical cooperation. He expressed confidence that joint efforts would unlock the full potential of their bilateral relationship, with the Order of Dostyk symbolizing the spirit of trust and partnership.

President Christodoulides expressed his gratitude for the high honor, accepting the award on behalf of the Cypriot people. The Cypriot president wished his Kazakh counterpart continued success in his public service.

During the visit, the presidents held talks in both narrow and expanded formats. Following the negotiations, official delegations exchanged several interagency Memoranda of Understanding. These agreements aim to foster cooperation in key sectors, including Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), e-government, space activities, cybersecurity, culture, education, science, and sports, signaling a commitment to tangible collaboration between Kazakhstan and Cyprus.
