Kazakhstan braces for unsettled weather with rain, thunderstorms, and dust storms

Kazakhstan is bracing for unsettled weather across most of the country on June 2, with widespread rain and thunderstorms predicted. The western and northern regions are particularly vulnerable, facing forecasts of heavy downpours, hail, and squally winds. Nationwide, increased wind speeds are expected, with dust storms likely in the southwestern and southern areas, according to Kazhydromet.

Astana will see variable cloudiness with rain and thunderstorms overnight, accompanied by fog. Winds will shift from northeasterly to northwesterly at 9-14 m/s. Daytime temperatures are expected to reach 27-29°C, with nighttime lows of 14-16°C.

Almaty can anticipate short-term rain and thunderstorms during the day, with westerly winds reaching gusts of up to 15 m/s. Temperatures will be warmer, ranging from 21-23°C at night to 31-33°C during the day. The mountainous zones of the Ile-Alatau mountains will experience similar conditions with stronger winds and cooler temperatures, 10-15°C at night and 23-28°C during the day.

Shymkent is forecast to have variable cloudiness with no precipitation, but strong northwesterly winds of 8-13 m/s are expected. Daytime temperatures will be high, reaching 34-36°C, with nighttime temperatures around 19-21°C. Other regions like Akmola, Kokshetau, Almaty Region, Konaev, Zhetysu, Taldykorgan, and Turkestan Region will also experience a mix of rain, thunderstorms, and varying wind conditions, with some areas facing extreme heat during the day.
