Kazakhstan braces for summer heatwave with temperatures hitting +35°C

Kazakhstan is set to welcome summer with a significant heatwave, as forecasters predict temperatures soaring across major cities. Kazhydromet has issued a weather outlook for Astana and Almaty, indicating a sharp rise in mercury for May 30, 31, and June 1.

Astana residents can expect variable cloudiness with no precipitation on May 30 and 31, with daytime temperatures reaching +30°C to +33°C. Overnight lows will be between +13°C and +20°C. However, June 1 may bring occasional rain and thunderstorms, accompanied by shifting winds and a slight dip in daytime temperatures to +28°C to +30°C.

Almaty, meanwhile, is bracing for more intense heat. The city will experience clear conditions on May 30 and 31, with daytime temperatures hovering around +29°C to +33°C. The mercury is forecast to peak on June 1, with intense heat reaching +33°C to +35°C. Overnight temperatures in Almaty will also climb, reaching +20°C to +22°C on June 1.

These forecasts follow earlier predictions by forecasters that atmospheric fronts would bring unsettled weather, including rain and thunderstorms, to northern, southern, and western Kazakhstan. Despite localized unsettled conditions, temperatures are projected to rise significantly across the country as summer officially begins.
