Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has put forward Aybek Dadebay, the current leader of the Adilet party, as his nominee for the crucial position of Chairman of the Kurultai. The proposal was announced by the presidential press office, Akorda.

This nomination is a significant procedural step following the establishment of the new unicameral Kurultai, which was elected on August 23. President Tokayev emphasized the need to elect leadership and form the Kurultai's structure in accordance with the country's revised constitution.

Aybek Dadebay, born in 1980 in Almaty, holds degrees in international relations and regional studies. His career includes roles as an attaché and third secretary at Kazakhstan's mission to the UN, and various positions within government bodies. He served as the head of the presidential administration from 2024 to 2026 and took leadership of the Adilet party in May 2026.
