Kazakhstan president warns of severe consequences of national indifference

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has issued a stark warning about the potential repercussions of national indifference in an era of global conflict and instability.

Speaking at the 12th "Aibyn" International Youth Military-Patriotic Gathering, Tokayev stressed that a lack of engagement with one's own country could lead to grave consequences. He stated, "In today’s world, where wars rage, military conflicts erupt, sanctions are imposed on nations, and the global environment becomes increasingly unpredictable, indifference toward one’s own country can result in severe consequences for ourselves and our citizens."

Serving as a soldier is a high honor, and everyone who has served honorably in the Armed Forces should enjoy the respect and recognition of our society. Together, we will ensure that parents are proud of their sons and daughters who have chosen the military path. In other words, active, responsible patriotism means conscientious work in all areas, including military service.

The Kazakh leader defined active, responsible patriotism as diligent work across all sectors, including military service. He affirmed that those who serve honorably in the Armed Forces deserve societal respect and recognition. Tokayev also underscored the necessity for state symbols and civic duty to form the bedrock of every young person's worldview.

Earlier, President Tokayev had announced reforms to Kazakhstan's military service, introducing a new format for the three main stages: conscription, taking the oath, and discharge.
