Kazakhstan's September Weather: Near-Normal Temperatures, Fluctuating Conditions

Kazakhstan is bracing for a September 2026 with generally near-normal temperatures and precipitation, according to weather forecasts. Across most of the country, average monthly air temperatures are expected to hover between +9°C and +15°C. However, the southwestern parts, along with some northwestern and central areas, could see warmer conditions, with temperatures ranging from +16°C to +22°C. A slight deviation above normal, by about one degree, is possible in West Kazakhstan Region and parts of Atyrau and Mangystau regions.

Precipitation patterns are also predicted to be close to the seasonal norm for most of Kazakhstan. Exceptions include North Kazakhstan, Pavlodar, and most of West Kazakhstan and Akmola regions, which are forecast to receive above-normal rainfall. Conversely, southern areas like Kyzylorda, Turkistan, and parts of Mangystau and Aktobe regions might experience below-normal precipitation.

Astana's forecast presents a more dynamic picture, with significant temperature fluctuations. The month is expected to begin with a sharp drop from daytime highs of +27°C to +32°C down to +13°C to +18°C, accompanied by nighttime temperatures falling to +1°C to +6°C and potential ground frosts. Subsequent warming spells are anticipated, with temperatures rising to +22°C to +27°C during the day. Another cold snap is expected towards the end of the first ten-day period, followed by a warming trend. The third ten-day period is set to start with a sharp cooling, bringing nighttime temperatures down to +1°C to +6°C and daytime temperatures to +6°C to +11°C, before a slight rise again.

Astana may also experience rain and strong winds, particularly at the beginning and middle of the first ten-day period, and again in the middle of the second and at the start of the third. Fog is possible towards the end of the month, and hail and squalls could occur in the middle of the second and beginning of the third periods. Almaty's average September temperature is expected to be around +17.5°C, close to its climatic norm.
