Kazakhstan searches for two citizens missing after Nepal-China border floods

Kazakhstan is actively searching for two of its citizens who may have been caught in a devastating flood on the border between Nepal and China. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the ongoing search, stating that one of the missing individuals was part of a tourist group that had crossed into China.

The natural disaster, which occurred on August 26, unleashed a powerful torrent of water, mud, and debris along the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river valleys. This catastrophic event led to the destruction of homes, roads, and bridges, resulting in hundreds of fatalities and a significant number of people still unaccounted for.

The ministry is collaborating with local government agencies and maintaining contact with the families of the affected citizens. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has extended condolences to Chinese President Xi Jinping regarding the tragic consequences of the mudflows in the Xizang Autonomous Region.
