Kazakhstan Weather: Heatwaves and Thunderstorms Expected July 16

Kazakhstan is set for a day of contrasting weather on July 16, with a mix of intense heat, thunderstorms, and rain across various cities.

Astana will experience partly cloudy skies with brief afternoon showers and thunderstorms, accompanied by squalls. Winds will pick up from 5-10 m/s overnight to 9-14 m/s during the day, with gusts reaching 15-20 m/s. Daytime temperatures will soar to 31-33°C, with nighttime lows of 18-20°C.

Much of the country will endure intense heat. Almaty will be dry with southeastern winds shifting to southwestern at 3-8 m/s, seeing highs of 36-38°C. Shymkent and Turkestan will also be dry, with northwestern winds at 8-13 m/s, and extreme daytime temperatures reaching 41-43°C and 42-44°C respectively.

Other cities like Konayev, Taldykorgan, Kyzylorda, and Taraz will also face dry conditions with high winds and intense daytime heat, with temperatures in Kyzylorda and Turkestan peaking above 40°C. Aktau will be partly cloudy and dry with northern to northwestern winds, reaching 30-32°C. Atyrau expects partly cloudy skies with light afternoon showers and thunderstorms, with daytime heat reaching 33-35°C.

Western Kazakhstan will see more varied conditions. Uralsk will have partly cloudy skies with afternoon rain, thunderstorms, and hail, with winds at 9-14 m/s and gusts up to 20 m/s, and daytime temperatures around 28-30°C. Aktobe will be mostly clear and dry with western winds and daytime gusts up to 18 m/s, reaching 29-31°C. Karaganda will experience partly cloudy skies with afternoon rain and thunderstorms, with winds at 9-14 m/s and gusts up to 20 m/s, and daytime highs of 31-33°C. Zhezkazgan will be partly cloudy and dry with northwestern to western winds, reaching 36-38°C.

Kostanay and Kokshetau will face rain and thunderstorms. Kostanay expects rain, thunderstorms, hail, and squalls with fog in the morning, and daytime temperatures of 26-28°C. Kokshetau will have rain and thunderstorms in the morning and afternoon.
