Kazimieras Likša and 'King's Blood' rock opera to perform in Telšiai

Lithuanian audiences can anticipate a unique concert experience on August 20th in Telšiai, featuring a striking contrast between two prominent musical acts. The evening begins with Kazimieras Likša, a beloved singer-songwriter known for his deeply personal lyrics that serve as a "diary of all my experiences," according to the artist.

Likša, who has been active in the Lithuanian music scene for over fifteen years, first gained recognition with the group Karma before embarking on a successful solo career. His work often delves into relationships, personal struggles, and the inner world of individuals. His performance will feature songs from his latest album "Įkvėpti" (Inspired) and recent singles.

As the evening progresses, the stage will transform to present "Karalių kraujas" (King's Blood), a rock opera inspired by Juozas Grušas's historical drama "Barbora Radvilaitė." This production reimagines the tragic love story of Žygimantas Augustas and Barbora Radvilaitė, set against a backdrop of power, intrigue, and duty. The opera merges the voices of professional opera soloists with the powerful sound of the rock band Thundertale, creating a synthesis of past and present.

The rock opera, with music and lyrics by Thundertale leader Laurynas Baškys, aims to bring a centuries-old story to life through contemporary musical language. Director Tomas Erbrėderis and screenwriter Aistė Nomeikaitė have crafted a narrative that places the historical drama against the pulse of the modern world. First conceived in 2023 for a festival, the production, originally titled "Ode to Life. Žygimantas Augustas's Other Side," evolved into the sharper "Karalių kraujas." The central conflict remains the timeless tension between personal choice and the pressures of power and obligation.
