KDM withdraws support from GRS government

The Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) has announced its decision to withdraw support from the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government, signaling a shift in the state's political landscape.

KDM President Priscella Peter stated that the move was made after careful consideration of the party's interests and the need to regain the trust of its grassroots members. She emphasized that the decision, while difficult, is necessary to ensure KDM has a clear direction and is not perceived as active only during election periods.

Regarding KDM leaders holding positions in government-linked companies (GLCs), Peter confirmed the party will follow established protocols. "We will follow the set protocols, then we will see. But if support is withdrawn from the government, and if the protocol states that positions must be relinquished, then that is what will happen," she explained.

Peter added that the decision was made collectively, not individually, and takes into account the interests of the party and future generations. KDM, though a smaller party, believes this is the best move to prepare for the upcoming general election and push for change in Sabah. The party is open to collaborating with other local parties, including Parti Warisan and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku, but no final decisions have been made.
