Kebbi gov creates new district, elevates village head

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has sanctioned the establishment of a new district and the elevation of a village head to a district headship. These administrative changes aim to bolster traditional governance structures within the state.

The newly created Zarmakwai District originates from the Aljannare District in Suru Local Government Area. Alhaji Aliyu Abubakar Sarki has been appointed as the inaugural District Head for this area. Concurrently, the Tarasa Village Headship in Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area has been upgraded to a full district. Alhaji Faruku Abubakar will now serve as the District Head for this newly recognized district.

These decisions align with the provisions outlined in the Kebbi State Local Government Law of 2008. The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Garba Dutsinmari, announced the approvals, emphasizing that the appointments were based on the individuals' track records. He urged the new district heads to serve their communities with integrity and dedication, assuring them of the Governor's and the Ministry's support.

The creation of the new district and the upgrade were carried out in accordance with the Kebbi State Local Government Law, 2008, Section 10, Subsections (A) and (B), which empower local governments to create districts and appoint district heads.
