Kebbi State Governor Receives Major Boost as PDP Faction Declares Support

A prominent faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kebbi State, Nigeria, has officially declared its support for the re-election campaign of Governor Nasir Idris. This move provides a significant boost to the governor's prospects ahead of the 2027 general election.

For the 2027 elections, we are now fully committed to the victory of Governor Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu.

The endorsement came during a gathering at the residence of former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ishaya Bamaiyi (rtd), where hundreds of PDP stakeholders converged. Among those present were loyalists of the 2015 PDP governorship candidate, General Bello Sarkin Yaki, former Minister of Special Duties Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs Alhaji Buhari Bala.

General Bamaiyi stated that despite internal crises within the national PDP, progressive politicians in Kebbi State could not afford to be inactive. He cited the visible transformation in Birnin Kebbi and Governor Idris's dedication to critical infrastructure projects as key reasons for their decision to support his continued leadership. "For the 2027 elections, we are now fully committed to the victory of Governor Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu," Bamaiyi declared, adding that the group would maintain its membership within the PDP.
