Keelung apartment fire sends thick smoke skyward; firefighters quickly extinguish blaze

A fire erupted in a multi-story residential building in Keelung City's Qidu District on the afternoon of August 12th. Flames and thick smoke billowed from a third-floor apartment, prompting a swift response from emergency services.

The Keelung City Fire Department dispatched five teams to the scene after receiving the report around 4 p.m. Firefighters immediately began dousing the flames, working to contain the blaze in the densely populated residential complex. Due to the inherent risks associated with apartment fires, additional units were placed on standby, and a command post was established to coordinate the operation.

Crews successfully brought the fire under control within approximately 30 minutes of their arrival. Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries or individuals trapped within the affected unit or the building. The rapid response and effective firefighting measures prevented the situation from escalating.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the fire department's investigation unit. Authorities will work to determine the origin and circumstances that led to the blaze.
