Keelung Athletes Shine at National Games with Record Medal Haul

The National Middle School Athletic Games have concluded, and Keelung City's athletes have once again demonstrated their prowess, bringing home a remarkable haul of 7 gold, 7 silver, and 6 bronze medals. This achievement is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our young athletes, coaches, and educational institutions.

Special recognition must be given to the shooting team from Mingde Junior High School. They have not only achieved their best-ever results with 4 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medals but have also showcased exceptional teamwork and individual brilliance. Chen Liang-hsi's outstanding performance, clinching two gold medals in her debut, is particularly noteworthy and inspiring.

Our city's commitment to sports development is unwavering. Mayor Hsieh Kuo-liang's pledge to invest an additional NT$5 million to enhance the shooting range facilities underscores our dedication to providing the best possible environment for our athletes to train and excel. This investment, coupled with the ongoing "Golden Plan for Elite Athletes" and training subsidies, reflects our belief in nurturing talent and supporting their journey to success.

Beyond shooting, athletes from Keelung have shone in various other disciplines. Lin Yu-hsuan from Keelung Girls' Senior High School secured a gold medal in taekwondo, while Wu Yu-wei from Erh-Shin High School continued his dominance in track and field, winning a gold in the 3000m steeplechase. These victories, along with medals in swimming, tennis, and boxing, highlight the diverse athletic talent within our city and the effectiveness of our grassroots development programs.
