Keelung Children's Playground Extends Weekday Hours to 8:30 PM

Keelung's Qidu indoor children's playground is extending its weekday hours to 8:30 PM, a move designed to better serve working families. The popular venue, which has welcomed over 710,000 visitors since its opening and maintains a 99% satisfaction rate, will now offer an additional evening session from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM on Wednesdays through Fridays.

The weekday evening extension hopes to allow more families to have precious parent-child time.

This initiative responds to feedback from dual-income households who found the previous closing time of 6:00 PM too early for after-work visits. Mayor Hsieh Kuo-liang emphasized that the extended hours are intended to foster precious family time, enabling children to play in a safe environment while allowing parents to connect with their children after busy workdays.

Through services that are more convenient and closer to family needs, children can play happily in a safe and comfortable environment.

The Qidu playground, a flagship facility featuring distinct areas for younger and older children, will serve as the pilot for this extended service. The Department of Children and Youth Affairs will monitor usage and feedback to refine operations. This move aligns with Keelung's broader goal of becoming a more child-friendly city by improving accessibility to public play spaces.
