Keflavík's important win over Akureyri

Keflavík secured a crucial 2-0 victory over Þór in a men's football match on Saturday, strengthening their position in the Bestu deildin league. The win was largely thanks to a stellar performance by Eiður Orri Ragnarsson, who scored both goals for the visiting team.

The match, played in Akureyri, saw Þór start strongly, creating the first chance of the game. However, Keflavík gradually took control, becoming the more dangerous side. Ragnarsson opened the scoring in the 32nd minute with a thunderous strike from just outside the penalty area that found the top corner.

In the second half, Keflavík continued to dominate. Although a second goal from Mate Simicic was disallowed for offside, Ragnarsson sealed the victory in the 87th minute. He broke through the defense and calmly slotted the ball into the net, securing the three points for Keflavík.

With this win, Keflavík maintains its fifth-place standing in the league, accumulating 25 points. They are now three points ahead of Val. Meanwhile, Þór remains at the bottom of the table with 15 points.
