Kellie Sloane faces ICAC allegations that predate her political career

Opposition Leader Kellie Sloane is navigating a challenging period as allegations from the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) cast a shadow over her political career. The inquiry, focused on alleged financial misconduct and political maneuvering, centers on events that occurred before Sloane entered politics in 2023.

Sloane, who previously led Life Education Australia, has consistently stated that the allegations predate her time in elected office. She described the initial evidence presented as "pretty awful" and "intensely uncomfortable listening." However, the controversy has escalated, drawing two of her shadow ministers into the investigation.

This week, the ICAC's focus intensifies as Damien Tudehope, the former shadow attorney-general and a senior parliamentary colleague of Sloane's, is scheduled to testify. While Tudehope has not been accused of wrongdoing, his past association with the Reformers, a right-wing faction of the Liberal party at the center of the inquiry, makes his testimony crucial. Tudehope stepped aside from the frontbench last month in anticipation of his appearance.

Sloane has described Tudehope as a "man of integrity" and indicated she would welcome him back to her shadow cabinet, with his return likely depending on his testimony.
