Ken Loach expresses solidarity with Rome's Spin Time community after eviction

Renowned British filmmaker and activist Ken Loach, 90, has voiced his support for the Spin Time community in Rome. The community has been living on the streets for ten days following their eviction, an event that has garnered international attention, including coverage by The Guardian.

Loach expressed deep regret over the fire at Spin Time, the subsequent eviction, and the harsh consequences for its residents. "Living on the streets must be very difficult for all of you, especially the little ones," he stated. He fondly remembered a past encounter with the community, noting the shared ideas and songs, particularly "Bella Ciao," which he found exceptionally beautiful.

"I was able to see that your community is creative and animated by a generous spirit, founded on the principles of sharing and compassion," Loach said. He conveyed his hope for a prompt resolution that guarantees their security and enables the community to reunite, recreating the atmosphere of mutual support, friendship, and joy that he and his wife Lesley had the pleasure of experiencing.
