Kentaro Sakaguchi announces marriage without warning, a year after cheating allegations involving Mei Nagano

Japanese actor Kentaro Sakaguchi has announced his marriage to a woman outside the entertainment industry, taking fans by surprise. The 35-year-old made the announcement on a paid fan platform, and his agency confirmed the news.

“Although this is a private matter, I have married my non-celebrity girlfriend, whom I have been dating. As an actor, I will continue working hard and moving forward,” Sakaguchi wrote.

The announcement has also brought renewed attention to allegations that damaged the actor’s previously polished public image. In September 2025, Japanese magazine Shukan Bunshun reported that Sakaguchi had dated and lived with a makeup artist, three years older than him, for four years while also having an affair with actress Mei Nagano. His agency chief reportedly said at the time that Sakaguchi had decided to break up with the makeup artist, but the relationship had not ended cleanly.

Nagano’s agency acknowledged that the two had dated, while saying it did not know Sakaguchi had a girlfriend at the time. The reports left him facing a persistent “bad man” image. His wife’s identity has now become a focus of public interest, although the article says she is not a public figure.
