KFC raises prices on nine menu items in Trinidad and Tobago

KFC Trinidad and Tobago has increased prices on nine menu items, with some meals costing up to $4 more as the chain faces higher operating costs.

Simon Hardy, chief executive of parent company Prestige Holdings Ltd, said the increases affected fewer than one-third of KFC’s core offering. He pointed to rising costs throughout the poultry supply chain, including more expensive hatching eggs. “If the price of hatching eggs goes up, then everything else goes up,” Hardy said.

The company had absorbed those costs but could no longer maintain the same prices, Hardy said. It also cited the rising cost of accessing foreign exchange. The increases range from 2% to 5% across the nine affected items.

Price checks found increases of $1 to $4 on several meals. The Mega 6 rose from $119 to $122, the Mega 8 from $155 to $159 and the Mega 10 from $185 to $189. The Zinger Sandwich Combo increased from $39.95 to $41.95, while the Supa Deal rose from $29.95 to $30.95 and the Big Deal from $39.95 to $40.95.

The higher prices now appear on KFC’s website. Several customers criticised the changes on social media, with some pointing to local competitors and others saying they would make fried chicken at home. KFC has raised prices several times in recent years, including increases in 2022, December 2023 and February 2024. The company also introduced a kiosk-only Snack Pack, offering two pieces and one regular side for $29.95.
