Kia Niro Drops Electric and Plug-in Variants in Poland, Focuses on Hybrid

The refreshed Kia Niro has arrived in Poland with a revised strategy, focusing on drivers seeking electrified mobility without the commitment to charging cables. The model starts at 123,900 PLN for the M version, with L and XL trims priced higher at 139,900 PLN and 166,500 PLN, respectively. This approach brings the Niro back to its European roots as a practical and economical crossover.

Since its European debut, the Kia Niro has been a significant electrified model, initially offered as a classic hybrid, a plug-in hybrid, and a fully electric vehicle. This variety catered well to the diverse charging infrastructure and adoption rates of electromobility across European countries. To date, European customers have purchased approximately 630,000 Niro units, with the classic hybrid variant proving to be the most popular choice and remaining a core offering.

The current hybrid powertrain combines a 1.6 GDI gasoline engine with an electric motor, delivering a total output of 138 horsepower and 265 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission (6 DCT). The Niro accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 11.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 170 km/h. Crucially for efficiency-minded drivers, the combined fuel consumption is reported to be between 4.6 and 5.1 l/100 km, with CO₂ emissions ranging from 103.4 to 115.4 g/km.

Stylistically, the Niro retains its compact crossover proportions but now features redesigned bumpers, updated lighting, and a revised rear end, aligning it more closely with Kia's current design language. Inside, higher trims (L and above) boast a 12.3-inch curved panoramic display integrating digital instruments and the infotainment system. The base M version includes a 4.2-inch screen. The car measures 443 cm in length, 182 cm in width, and 154 cm in height, with a wheelbase of 2720 mm and a trunk capacity of 430 liters.
