Killarney hit by worst flooding in a lifetime as orange rain warning issued for Dublin

Killarney, a town in Co Kerry, Ireland, was inundated with "torrential downpours" on Thursday evening, causing what the local mayor described as "the worst flooding in a lifetime." Kerry County Council reported "significant flash flooding" that made some roads "impassable."

Separately, a status orange rain warning was issued for Dublin, effective until 3 a.m. Friday. The alert predicted "very heavy rain" and "very difficult travelling conditions." Met Éireann also extended a yellow rain warning to include Kildare and Dublin, along with several other counties in the south, warning of heavy rain, potential thunderstorms, and localized flooding until 6 a.m. Friday. Parts of Dublin, including Cabra, experienced flooding on Thursday night.
