Kim Hyeong-yeon to Take Over Cho Kuk Innovation Party’s Proportional Seat

Cho Kuk Innovation Party supreme council member Kim Hyeong-yeon will take over the proportional representation seat held by Lee Hae-min, who was selected as senior presidential secretary for AI and future planning.

The National Election Commission announced on the 31st that it had chosen Kim, who was ranked 14th on the party’s proportional representation candidate list, after receiving notice that Lee’s parliamentary position had become vacant.

Under Article 200, Clause 2 of the Public Official Election Act, the commission must select a successor according to the order on the proportional representation candidate list within 10 days of receiving notice of a vacancy.

Kim, who is from Incheon, graduated from Incheon High School and Seoul National University’s Department of Social Education. He entered the judiciary as a Seoul District Court judge in 2000 and later served as a constitutional research officer at the Constitutional Court and as a judge at the Seoul High Court. During the Moon Jae-in administration, he served as presidential legal secretary and head of the Government Legislation Agency.
