Kim Si-woo, Kim Joo-hyung Tee Off in PGA Tour Championship's 'Battle for Money'

Korean golfers Kim Si-woo and Kim Joo-hyung are set to compete in the PGA Tour Championship, the ultimate showdown of the FedEx Cup playoffs, beginning August 28.

This elite tournament brings together the top 30 players who have navigated the regular season and the preceding playoff events. Kim Si-woo, despite not having a win this season, has consistently performed, securing 11 top-10 finishes across 23 tournaments. He enters the championship ranked fifth in the FedEx Cup standings and expressed his determination to win, stating, "The only remaining chance to win this season is in the playoffs. I will do my best to win in the remaining tournaments."

Kim Joo-hyung, who has shown a resurgence this season with a win at the Genesis Scottish Open in July, secured his spot in the Tour Championship ranked 29th. He will tee off alongside Ryan Fox of New Zealand. Unlike previous years where players received stroke advantages based on their FedEx Cup ranking, the format now allows all 30 players to start from an even score, giving every competitor a chance to win.

Strong contenders for the title include FedEx Cup leader Scottie Scheffler, who is aiming for his second Tour Championship victory despite a less dominant season by his standards. Rory McIlroy, a four-time champion, is also in the running, seeking his fifth title. Other notable contenders include Tommy Fleetwood, Matt Fitzpatrick, Wyndham Clark, and Cameron Young. The Tour Championship boasts a total prize fund of $40 million, with the winner taking home $10 million.
