Kim Soo-hyun officially returns to public activities after 16-month break

South Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun is making a public comeback after a hiatus of approximately 1 year and 4 months. His return to official activities was signaled through social media posts by Bench, a Filipino apparel brand, showcasing behind-the-scenes photos from a recent advertising campaign shoot.

The images, shared by Bench Chairman Ben Chan, depict Kim Soo-hyun smiling and interacting with staff while holding a bouquet. This marks his first official engagement following a period of inactivity that began in March of the previous year. The hiatus was prompted by allegations of a past relationship with singer Kim Sae-ron during her minor years, which were amplified by the YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute.

These allegations were based on purported messenger chat logs and voice files presented as evidence. However, subsequent investigations by the prosecution authorities concluded that the provided materials were fabricated using generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology. The Garo Sero Institute operators were subsequently arrested and charged with various offenses, including defamation, dissemination of illegally filmed content, attempted coercion, threats, and stalking.
