Kitesurfer Dies in Tragic Accident Captured on Video

Fernando Javier Cappi, a 32-year-old kitesurfing expert from Santa Fe, Argentina, died last Thursday after an accident on the Laguna Setúbal. His girlfriend recorded the final moments on video from the shore in the El Chaquito area, where they had gone to enjoy good sailing conditions. The footage shows Cappi losing stability on the water and vanishing from sight, marking the last time he was seen before a large search operation commenced. Cappi was a well-respected figure in the regional kitesurfing community, known for his extensive experience and strict safety adherence. He also ran a school dedicated to the sport. The accident occurred while he was sailing in the Laguna Setúbal, near Monte Vera. The search involved the Argentine Naval Prefecture, police, and numerous athletes with private boats. While parts of his equipment were found early on, Cappi's body was not recovered until the next day in a diversion channel near the El Quillá Nautical Club. Authorities are now working to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to his death, aiming to determine the precise circumstances of the accident.
