Kjetil Rekdal Thought It Was Allergies; Blood Test Brought Shock

Kjetil Rekdal, a figure known for his resilience, faced a personal health crisis that left him feeling a profound loss of control.

Rekdal, 57, initially sought medical attention for itchy eyes, suspecting a late-onset allergy. However, subsequent blood tests yielded unusual results, causing him considerable anxiety. The situation intensified when further tests brought more stress, culminating in the revelation of his diagnosis.

This diagnosis, which occurred last fall, was cancer. Rekdal has since undergone surgery to remove the cancerous cells, and his prognosis is reportedly good. Despite the positive medical outlook, the experience has deeply affected him.

Rekdal, who once famously stated, "A Rekdal always comes back," finds himself grappling with the lingering psychological impact. He continues his work, coaching the young Aalesund team and serving as a World Cup expert for VG. Yet, he admits to constantly pondering whether he will ever regain the sense of calm he possessed before his diagnosis.
