Klaipėda Police Seize Thousands of Liters of Alcohol, Hundreds of Cigarette Packs

Klaipėda's criminal police, in collaboration with the Klaipėda Regional Prosecutor's Office, have seized a significant quantity of contraband goods, including nearly 4,000 liters of various alcoholic beverages and 217 blocks of cigarettes. The seizure occurred in mid-June during an investigation into the alleged illegal trade of excisable goods in the city.

Some of the confiscated cigarettes lacked proper Lithuanian excise stamps, while others bore stamps from third countries. In addition to alcohol and cigarettes, officers also found over 900 euros, electronic cigarettes with their accompanying liquid, and approximately 300 liters of diesel fuel.

As part of the pre-trial investigation, a man born in 1980 was detained. A court has ordered his pre-trial detention for 10 days. He faces a potential prison sentence of up to eight years under Lithuanian law for the illegal possession and trade of excise goods.

The investigation began in June 2026 after authorities received information about suspected illicit activities involving alcohol and cigarettes in Klaipėda.
