Klaipėda Port Welcomes Special Cruise Ship, Star of German TV Series

The cruise ship "Deutschland" made a notable stop at the Klaipėda port, bringing a diverse group of international travelers. Visitors arrived from countries including France, Italy, Switzerland, and Turkey, with a significant portion of the guests embarking on organized excursions to discover the local region.

Romena Savickienė, head of the Klaipėda Tourism Information Center, stated that "The majority of guests will get to know our region – almost 400 passengers have departed on organized tours." The ship was docked until 5 p.m. before continuing its journey across the Baltic Sea.

Beyond its current role as a passenger vessel, the "Deutschland" holds a unique place in popular culture. For many years, it served as the primary filming location for the popular German television series "Das Traumschiff" (The Dream Ship). In 2012, during the London Summer Olympics, the ship was repurposed as a floating hotel for the German Olympic Committee. Since 2015, it has also participated in the international "Semester at Sea" program, offering students a unique educational experience while traveling the globe.
