KMT Chairwoman Chiu Yi-hsin refutes 'person of China' label from Fox News

Kuomintang (KMT) Chairwoman Chiu Yi-hsin has strongly refuted accusations made by Fox News host Maria Bartiromo, who labeled her as "a person of China."

During interviews at the U.S. Congress on June 10th, Chiu Yi-hsin called the characterization "taking things out of context" and "deliberate smearing." She stated that she has become accustomed to such attacks, particularly within the current "vicious political and public opinion environment." However, she asserted that these very circumstances make it even more crucial for her to emphasize communication and exchange, hoping to prevent others from being misled by misinformation.

Chiu Yi-hsin highlighted that her interactions with members of the U.S. Congress have been positive. She described the lawmakers she met as "open-minded" and genuinely interested in understanding her authentic positions. She viewed these meetings as "very positive communication."

Furthermore, she noted that even when some individuals deliberately tried to obstruct these meetings, the members of Congress still proceeded to meet with her. Chiu Yi-hsin interpreted this as a sign that U.S. congressional members possess a high degree of autonomy and are not easily led astray or arbitrarily misled.
