Knife Attack in Russian Shopping Center Leaves One Dead, Several Injured

A shocking knife attack at a shopping center in Russia's Krasnodar region has left one woman dead and several people injured.

The incident unfolded when a young man attacked shoppers inside the mall, according to Irina Volk, a spokesperson for the Russian Interior Ministry. Volk stated, "A young man stabbed several visitors inside the shopping center. According to initial information, one woman is dead."

Adding to the chaos, the assailant also deployed a pyrotechnic device, which activated the shopping center's fire alarm, though no injuries were reported from the explosion itself.

Regional governor Veniamin Kondratyev reported that at least five people sustained injuries during the attack. These individuals are currently hospitalized with moderate injuries, and their conditions are described as stable.

The 19-year-old suspect, a local resident, was subdued by a bystander before police arrived and has since been taken into custody. Authorities are investigating the motive behind the attack, considering all possibilities. The Investigative Committee has requested a psychiatric evaluation for the suspect, and prosecutors have launched a criminal investigation.
