Taiwan People's Party founder Ko Wen-je actively campaigned for Chen Shih-wei, the party's nominee for the Tainan City District 1 council seat. Ko emphasized that candidates are the primary figures in an election, with their success depending over 50% on their own efforts. He positioned himself as a mere "cheerleader, supporting role, lighting, and stage" for the campaign.

During his campaign in Xinying's first market, Ko engaged with the public in a relaxed manner, soliciting support for Chen Shih-wei. Tainan City Party Chairman Yen Yao-hsing underscored the significance of the upcoming election for the party's roots in Tainan and as a chance to "clear Ko Wen-je's name."
